TGIF!

Phew! The work week is just about over! I'll be spending the weekend making some holiday items for my Etsy store and also for the open house/holiday sale my friend Marta and I are having near her home. The sale will be 11/28-11/29 at 90 N. Riverside in Croton on Hudson, NY. If you are in the upper Westchester area, please stop by! I'll have my jewelry and Marta will have hand decorated wreaths, santas, bath salts, sachets, pillows, linens and all kinds of goodies!

I'm hoping to make a couple of my angel pendants which take quite a bit of time to make. They're cute and I think would look good worn or even on a x-mas tree!

Craft selling tips

So I'm trying to find ways of promoting my stuff better. I have joined several networks and am reading blogs of other sellers for tips. Indiebizchicks are a great resource and I have joined their email list. They have a 40-page downloadable marketing tips e-book that is free! Introduction

This is my first time blogging, so I guess I should start by telling you a little bit about myself. My name is Noriko and I am Japanese, but born and raised in New York. I work full time in Manhattan for a University and spend my free time making jewelry. There are two reasons why I started making my own jewelry:

1. I needed a hobby to relieve my stress

2. I could never find a ring in my size (3 3/4 or 4)

My co-workers and friends have been urging me to sell my stuff for years, so finally about a year ago I started selling my pieces. I have a shop on Etsy: http://www.noribeads.etsy.com/ which is going ever so slowly, but that's because I haven't figured out how to get exposure yet. I did my first craft show in October at the Pumpkinfest in Beacon, NY which turned out pretty well considering it was freezing by the Hudson River. I am looking forward to doing some more craft shows hopefully in the near future. If anyone has any advice for me, I would love to hear it!

I've been getting more into semi-precious stones lately and have just made a simple 3-pair set of earrings ($20) that I will be putting up on etsy this evening:

They are Pink Amethyst, Garnet and Black Onyx and they come with one pair of sterling silver ear wires. They are interchangeable so all you have to do is switch the stones. The Pink Amethyst is my favorite! It's hard to tell in this pic, but they are beautiful!! Go take a look at my etsy site later tonight or tomorrow for a better close up view :)
